Behind the counter

A small catalogue kept by people who actually bake on these things.

Why this counter exists

Finding an Easy Bake oven should take ten minutes and it takes an afternoon. The listings are scattered, half of them are the same oven sold twice, the carton contents are buried in bullet points, and nothing tells you whether the pizza mix is in stock this week. We built this counter so that the comparison happens on one page instead of fourteen.

Everything here is laid out the way we would lay out a shelf: ovens together, mixes together, paper with paper, with the price and the rating and the availability on the front of every card rather than three clicks in.

How we keep it

We check the listings, read the carton contents, pull the ratings and write the card ourselves. Where two pages sell the same oven or the same pair of mixes, we keep the one that is in stock and better reviewed and drop the duplicate — a counter with two cards for one product is a worse counter.

Prices and availability move faster than any catalogue can promise, so the number on a card is the number we last read and the order page is always the final word.

What we are not

We are not the people who make these ovens and we do not hold stock. Nothing is shipped from here, nothing is packed here and no order is taken here — the order window on every card leads to the store page that actually has the box.

We also do not pretend to have baked every one of the thirty-two products on this counter. Where we are leaning on other people's experience rather than our own, the card says so, and the six notes on the front page are other bakers' words rather than ours.

Where to find us

Written notes reach us at the address in the footer, and the counter notes page has the form. We read them on weekdays and we do fix things when somebody tells us a card is wrong — a wrong price, a mix that is not in the carton, a shelf we have filed something under badly.

Three cards to start from if you came here looking for a product rather than the small print.
