Supervision is on every carton

Every oven we list is marked for ages eight and up with adult supervision, and we print that on every card for a reason. The chamber holds real heat, the pan comes out hot, and the pan tool exists precisely because fingers should not be near the chamber mouth.

Stay in the room while the oven is on. Twelve minutes per tray is enough time to do something else nearby and not enough time to leave the kitchen.

Hot parts and cool parts

The chamber mouth and the pan are the hot parts. The body of the oven does not get dangerously hot to the touch in normal use. Treat the pan the way you would treat a baking sheet out of a kitchen oven, because it behaves the same way at a smaller scale, and give it a minute on a plate before anybody touches the bake.

What never goes in

Nothing wet, nothing wrapped in foil, and nothing deeper than the pan was designed to hold. A tall bake cannot cook through in a low-heat chamber, and a dough that is still raw in the middle is a food safety problem rather than a disappointment. Keep bakes thin.

Do not line the pan with anything the instructions do not mention, and do not put any part of the oven in a dishwasher. The pan and the spatula are hand-wash; the body is a wipe-down only, unplugged and cold.

Cleaning safely

Unplug the oven and let it cool fully before wiping anything. A barely damp cloth at the chamber mouth and along the tray channel is the whole job. Water inside the body is not a cleaning method.

Allergens and the mixes

Refill mixes contain wheat and may contain milk, soy and traces of nuts depending on the flavor. The pack is the authority on this and the panel on the back of the sleeve lists it — read it before a child with an allergy opens a sachet, and read it again when a bundle arrives with a flavor you were not expecting.
