Red velvet and strawberry cake mixes with vanilla frosting in one refill.

Two cake mixes, two colors, one pack. Red velvet bakes deep and dark red; the strawberry mix comes out pale pink. Frost both with the vanilla mix and a kid has a tray that looks like it came from a real bakery case, which matters more to an eight-year-old than any amount of flavor.

Cakes are less forgiving than cookies in a small chamber — a minute too long and the edge dries out — so the printed instructions are worth following to the letter the first time through.
